About: A leading DC area trade association in the consumer products industry seeks a Government Affairs specialist to support policy and advocacy initiatives. This role provides an opportunity to develop and maintain strong relationships with government representatives and stakeholders while advancing the policy goals of the industry.
Go Deeper: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments to assess their impact on the industry. Serve as a key liaison for association committees, providing policy updates through reports and summaries. Attend meetings with legislators, agencies, and stakeholders, drafting materials and compliance tools for members. Help plan advocacy events, contribute to communications, and travel as needed for association activities.
Details: The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in government relations, lobbying, or association work, with knowledge of the U.S. regulatory system, particularly EPA or FDA policies. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential. Candidates should be responsive, service-oriented, and comfortable in a small team, with flexibility for a hybrid schedule and up to 25% travel.
