Staff Counsel, Regulatory Affairs

About: The Staff Counsel provides legal expertise on contracts, policies, and litigation while supporting federal regulatory advocacy for the consumer products industry. This role ensures compliance, guides members on regulatory requirements, and helps shape the association’s position on emerging issues impacting the industry.


Go deeper: Draft and review contracts, assist with internal policy development, and manage litigation in coordination with the General Counsel. Plan and execute the annual Legal & Regulatory Conference and other key events.


Analyze federal legislation and regulations and develop regulatory comments, address member inquiries on compliance, and represent the association on task forces and committees. Build relationships with regulatory stakeholders to advance the industry’s priorities.


Details: The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Bar membership in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, along with 3–5 years of experience in regulatory, environmental, or litigation law. Familiarity with FDA law or other similarly regulated industries is strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong legal drafting and regulatory analysis skills, as well as the ability to present complex issues effectively to diverse audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
